Commerical Artwork
Sayargyi U San Hlaing was studying on 27th Street and he came back into the art world in 1947. He is skilled in all kinds of art. So he worked printing Posters, and advertising the goods successfully, and then he appointed some assistants to get a helping hand.
Among his many kinds of advertising designs such as clothes, dyeing, printing, cigarette shoes, cosmetics, etc., the “ Champion ’’ shoe design, which was trusted by the “ Maung Par ” shop of umbrellas and shoes was very famous and popular. The brushwork of design and new ideas were so good. He presented the light of the slippers by pulling the feathers and slippers in the balance at both ends right and the durability of the slippers was presented by pulling the elephant out of slippers. An elephant was pulling the rope which was tied at the ridge of slippers.
Maung Par’s shop for shoes was more famous and sold like hot cakes and the name of the art of U San Hlaing was more successful for this advertising design.
In 1952 Sayargyi U San Hlaing won the 2nd prize, silver medal for his portrait of Bogyoke Aung San at the contest and shown at 13th Anniversary of Bogyoke. As Bogyoke Aung San‘s follower in the revolution. I depicted Bogyoke’s portrait with admiration which let me obtain Second Prize in portrait writing.
