Artist U Kyaw Phyu San's Review

I have been aware of the illustrations of Sayar U San Hlaing since I was a student. We can see his works in Tatmadaw Sar Sin, Sit Pyan magazine, etc., at that time in many periodicals.

He is a successful illustrational artist in his own style and man can know his work although it has not his signature.

We knew each other closer in 1981. We met at the Sitpyan magazine when we contributed our manuscripts. I think that he likes his picture and he is very simple with friendly similes. He is thin and has brown skin, prominent eyes, and a bit big and wide ears.

He roamed about in many magazines and journals such as Sit Pyan, Yadanamon, Nyan Lin, Myat Su Mon, Myat Mingalar, Ngwe Tar Yi, Myawaddy, Payphuhlawr and Sandar. When he created his illustration drawing, he could do it in detail systematically, thematically, and technically.

We loved him with great respect because he served and was admonished at the tea shop when he ever came across the young artists. I never forget his words of wisdom “Kyaw Phyu San, an artist must not be lazy and read a lot.

Simplicity is beauty and it has power. We can get the idea to create the paintings in literature. Well-bred and well-read are the wise for their whole lives.

I believe that the artworks of Saya U San Hlaing are set up on the literature sources of history, although they are not considerably impressive.
